Character Attributes & Skills

Four Core Attributes

Every player character has four attributes, each rated from 2 to 5 (with main attributes going up to 5). PHYSIQUE represents strength and endurance. PRECISION covers coordination and motor skills. LOGIC is intellectual capacity and education. EMPATHY is your ability to understand and persuade people. These attributes form the foundation of your capabilities and determine how many dice you roll when attempting difficult actions.

Twelve Skills

Skills represent trained knowledge and experience. They include: AGILITY, CLOSE COMBAT, FORCE (all Physique-based); MEDICINE, RANGED COMBAT, STEALTH (Precision-based); INVESTIGATION, LEARNING, VIGILANCE (Logic-based); and INSPIRATION, MANIPULATION, OBSERVATION (Empathy-based). Each skill is rated 0-5. When you attempt something difficult, you add your relevant attribute and skill together, then roll that many six-sided dice.

Rolling the Dice

To resolve a difficult or dangerous action, add your attribute value and skill value together. Roll that many six-sided dice. Each die showing a 6 is a success. You usually need just one success to pass a test. If you fail, you can choose to 'push the roll' - you get to reroll failed dice, but you suffer a Condition (injury or stress) as a consequence. Some situations require multiple successes - challenging actions need 2 successes, difficult actions need 3.
