Four More Core Principles

4. Knowledge & Cunning Are Keys

Vaesen mysteries are rarely solved with violence alone. You need knowledge - of folklore, history, languages, science. You need cunning to manipulate NPCs, gather information, and set traps. Success comes from understanding the problem deeply, not from having the biggest gun. Skills like Investigation, Learning, and Observation are more important than Close Combat in many situations. Cleverness beats brute force.

5. The Journey Is Part of the Goal

Mysteries aren't just problems to solve - they're journeys that pull you into the story. Each mystery changes your character. You'll gain scars (both physical and mental), form bonds, and develop from inexperienced newcomers into seasoned, hardened veterans. The personal growth and relationships matter as much as solving the mystery. Over time, your characters will have experienced incredible horrors and grown because of them.

6. You Cannot Survive Without Each Other

You'll face creatures that drive people mad and beasts that can kill with a single blow. Alone, you'd be overwhelmed. Together, you survive. The player characters' relationships and interdependence are crucial - both for the story and for healing from trauma. When a friend is broken, others help them recover. When you're terrified, companions give you courage. The group's bonds are as important as any game mechanic.
